Give to Charity
Please give to charity. It has an important role, if not an always esteemed name.
Charity is giving money to relieve symptoms of distress in peoples’ lives. It asks no questions. It responds to immediate needs. Its purpose is relief. Important charitable causes for you to consider include: international relief, emergency shelters, food banks, services to women and children who are victims of domestic violence, blood centers, birth-to-three providers who provide therapeutic care to medically fragile infants, foster care services for children who are abused or neglected by their birth parents.
Charitable gifts are a wonderful way to give back, and in the process to help relieve some of the immediate suffering experienced by friends and neigbors near and far who face crises in their lives.
A useful resource to check for information to guide your charitable giving, is Charity Navigator, which provides independent evaluations of over 5000 nonprofits in the U.S. Charity Navigator is not the final authority; it tends to focus on one key indicator -- IRS 990 forms submitted annually by charities. But it provides a useful starting point.
Express thanksgiving: give to charity, and give to philanthropy also.
